Since 2006, IMA has turned community celebrations into care.

A portion of the proceeds from Kerala Day, Onam and the annual picnic funds iTouch — IMA’s charity programme for children and families facing urgent medical needs, alongside flood relief in Kerala and a monthly meal service in downtown Indianapolis.

SINCE 2006

Four programmes. One idea: celebration should leave something behind.

IMA believes charity work also teaches the next generation. Children who grow up around these programmes see the conditions less fortunate families live in, and learn what caring and giving actually look like.

iTouch

Founded in 2006 to fund urgent medical treatment for children and families in Kerala. Supported by proceeds from Kerala Day, Onam and the annual picnic — Kerala Day was created that same year specifically to raise funds for iTouch.

Serving the Needy

On the second Saturday of every month, around 25 IMA volunteers serve hot food, sandwiches, boiled eggs and fruit to roughly 200 people at the Robert Parks Methodist Church parking lot — through freezing winters and summer heat alike.

Relief and rebuilding

2018 – 2019

Kerala Flood Relief

More than $31,000 directed into five projects after the 2018 floods: rehab kits, a rebuilt home, 30 wheelchairs, school supplies and food, and a fishermen community development programme.

Chennai Flood Relief

IMA donated $1,000 to the Chennai flood relief fund in response to severe flooding across the city.

LIVES CHANGED

The children behind the fundraising.

Vineetha, 15

Vineetha had lived with lymphoedema for years — the same condition that had killed her father. IMA funded four surgeries at KIMS Hospital in Trivandrum, completed in July 2007. Doctors expected her back to normal activity within days. ($1,865)

Shyam

IMA funded the surgery that treated Shyam’s bone cancer, carried out at SUT Hospital in Trivandrum. ($625)

Three hearts, 2008

₹1,05,000 went to the Heart Care Foundation for Master Jijin, 12, who needed a mitral valve replacement, and for Saramol, 3, and Abel Santhosh, 4, both needing a septal defect closed. All three were operated on under Dr Jayakumar T K at Government Medical College Hospital, Kottayam. ($2,500)

Abiya, 10

In 2020, iTouch contributed ₹75,000 to the Abiya Chikitsa Sahaya Nidhi towards the treatment of Abiya, a ten-year-old girl.
